God of War's Glauco Longhi Hints at New IP
Rumored to be a Sci-Fi Game
Glauco Longhi, a key figure in the God of War series, has hinted at an exciting new direction for Santa Monica Studio. Longhi, who rejoined the studio earlier this year, is now overseeing character development for an "unannounced project." His LinkedIn profile sheds light on this mysterious venture, stating, "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."
Longhi's journey with Santa Monica Studio began with God of War (2018), where he eventually rose to the role of lead character artist for God of War Ragnarok. His return to the studio offers him the chance to shape the "character development pipeline" for this new endeavor.
Adding to the intrigue, Cory Barlog, the creative director behind the 2018 God of War reboot, mentioned that the studio is engaged in multiple projects. Longhi's profile further indicates that Santa Monica Studio is expanding its team, actively seeking a character artist and tools programmer in recent months.
Rumors suggest that this unannounced project might be a new sci-fi IP, possibly under the guidance of Stig Asmussen, the creative director of God of War 3. While these rumors remain unconfirmed, Sony's trademark filing for "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year has fueled speculation. Additionally, whispers of a past project for the PS4, rumored to be sci-fi themed but believed to have been canceled, add to the studio's mysterious aura.
