Gaming Giant Severs Ties With Controversial Streamer

Following recent allegations surrounding his 2020 Twitch ban, Turtle Beach has severed its partnership with Dr Disrespect. The gaming accessory company had a long-standing relationship with the streamer, including a collaborative headset.

The controversy reignited after former Twitch employee Cody Conners alleged Dr Disrespect engaged in inappropriate conduct involving a minor via Twitch's Whispers feature. These claims prompted several partners to re-evaluate their relationships with Dr Disrespect.

Turtle Beach confirmed to IGN the termination of its partnership, ending a multi-year deal signed in 2020 to sponsor its ROCCAT brand. This followed the release of a Dr Disrespect-themed headset and sponsorship of several of his streams. His merchandise is no longer available on Turtle Beach's website.

Dr Disrespect's Midnight Society Departure

Turtle Beach isn't the only entity to end its association with Dr Disrespect. Midnight Society, the game studio he co-founded in 2021, also cut ties earlier this week. While initially assuming his innocence, Midnight Society ultimately decided to part ways following the surfacing of these allegations.

Dr Disrespect denies the accusations, asserting no wrongdoing was acknowledged in his Twitch ban and that the matter was resolved with Twitch in 2020. He also recently announced a streaming hiatus, citing a planned vacation that will likely be extended due to the current situation. The duration of his break and future plans remain unclear.
