A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

The renowned Spanish studio MercurySteam, celebrated for its contributions to titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has just announced their latest endeavor—an action-RPG named Blades of Fire. In partnership with the publisher 505 Games, this game is set to plunge players into a richly woven dark fantasy world teeming with enigmatic races and daunting creatures.

The initial trailer for Blades of Fire unveils a thrilling experience with fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual flair, and a deeply atmospheric setting. In terms of both gameplay mechanics and artistic expression, the game echoes the spirit of Lords of Shadow. Meanwhile, the design of the environments and adversaries clearly draws inspiration from the Darksiders series. A highlight from the trailer includes a mechanical bird that the protagonist is expected to utilize for navigating the expansive game world.

Blades of Fire is being crafted using MercurySteam's own Mercury Engine, which could potentially sidestep the optimization challenges frequently faced by projects utilizing Unreal Engine 5.
