Fortnite Backtracks on Skin Controversy

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this joyous reunion was briefly marred by a controversial decision.

Originally, a special Matte Black style for the skin was offered exclusively to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The subsequent announcement of its removal, therefore, caused significant backlash.

Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated established terms. Fortunately, Epic Games quickly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single match on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most sensible outcome. Given the festive Christmas season, such a contentious move would have undoubtedly soured the holiday spirit for many.
