Finn Jones on Iron Fist Critiques: 'Give Me a Chance to Prove Critics Wrong'
Charlie Cox's successful transition from Netflix to the MCU as Daredevil has sparked interest in potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Finn Jones, who played Iron Fist, recently expressed his readiness to reprise his role, stating at the LaConve anime convention in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, "I’m here and I’m ready." Jones last portrayed Danny Rand in the second season of the Iron Fist series on Netflix and in The Defenders, where he teamed up with Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
Despite mixed reception to Jones' portrayal of Iron Fist, the character's inclusion in future MCU projects remains uncertain. However, the integration of Daredevil into the MCU has fueled speculation about a possible revival of The Defenders. Recent reports suggest Marvel is "exploring" this idea, raising hopes among fans.
Addressing criticism of his performance, Jones acknowledged the fans' mixed feelings at the convention, saying, "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen. There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f\*\*\*ing chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
Daredevil: Born Again continues the story from the Netflix series, which was part of a smaller-scale Marvel universe alongside shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. These shows, and the broader Defenders saga, are now officially part of the MCU canon, available on Disney+. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, another character from the Netflix universe, also makes an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.
