Fake Elden Ring Nightreign Test Invitations Circulated by Scammers

Bandai Namco has started sending out emails to players for participation in the closed testing of Elden Ring: Nightreign, set to take place from February 14 to 17, 2025. These fortunate players will be among the first to dive into the game, which is designed for a thrilling three-person cooperative mode, as highlighted in the official communication.

Given the high anticipation surrounding Nightreign, there has been a surge in fraudulent activities. Scammers are capitalizing on the excitement by distributing fake testing invitations. Some players have reported receiving emails that mimic official notifications from Bandai Namco, falsely claiming to offer a chance to participate in the testing phase. These deceptive emails often include links to counterfeit websites that closely resemble Steam's interface.

Victims of these scams are prompted to log into these fake resources, resulting in the loss of access to their accounts. In some instances, players have received similar fraudulent messages from their own friends' accounts. Some affected users have successfully regained access to their accounts by reaching out to Steam support.

It's crucial to exercise caution with links and to verify the authenticity of the sources. If in doubt, it's advisable to stick to official channels and avoid clicking on suspicious links.

In a significant change for Elden Ring: Nightreign, players will no longer be able to leave messages within the game. Project director Junya Ishizaki provided insight into this decision during an interview. He explained that, given the approximately forty-minute duration of the Nightreign gaming sessions, there isn't sufficient time for players to engage in the sending or checking of messages. As a result, the messaging feature has been disabled to maintain the flow and focus of the gameplay experience.
