A new installment in the Digimon video game series, titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, seems to have been leaked through GameStop just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted and shared by Gematsu, which provided store links for pre-ordering the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop pages lack images or gameplay details, the timing suggests that an official announcement might be imminent.

This leak comes mere hours before Sony's upcoming State of Play event, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. While the exact lineup remains undisclosed, the proximity of the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings to the event hints at a potential reveal during the presentation.

The Digimon Story series has a rich history, beginning with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, numerous sequels have been released across various platforms, including Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017. The Complete Edition, released in 2019, bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles together.

In the Digimon Story games, players enter the world of Digimon, where they befriend and battle with these digital monsters in RPG-style gameplay. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu hinted at a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh installment. While games like Digimon Survive have kept the series alive, Digimon Story: Time Stranger could mark the long-awaited return of the mainline series if it gets officially announced soon.
