Dead Space 4 Rejected by EA
Dead Space fans may be disappointed to hear that EA has passed on the opportunity to greenlight Dead Space 4, as confirmed by its original creator, Glen Schofield. During an interview with Dan Allen Gaming, Schofield, alongside developers Christopher Stone and Bret Robbins, revealed that their recent pitch for the highly anticipated sequel was met with a firm "no" from the publisher. While the Dead Space franchise remains beloved, especially following last year's critically acclaimed remake, EA seems hesitant to invest in reviving a decade-old IP.
Stone humorously recounted how his son’s enthusiasm for the series sparked curiosity about the possibility of a new game. However, when the team approached EA with their proposal, the response was immediate and decisive. "We didn’t go too deep," Schofield explained. "They just said 'We’re not interested right now,' and we respect their decision." Stone echoed Schofield’s sentiment, noting the current uncertainty in the gaming industry, where publishers are increasingly cautious about taking risks on older franchises.
Despite the setback, the developers remain hopeful for the future. "Maybe one day," Stone expressed, with nods of agreement from his colleagues. Although they are currently engaged in separate projects, the passion for Dead Space 4 still burns brightly. Robbins, Schofield, and Stone are optimistic that the stars will align eventually, allowing them to bring the series back to life. Until then, fans will have to savor the success of the recent remake, which earned high praise with an 89 on Metacritic and a "Very Positive" rating on Steam.
For now, the fate of Dead Space 4 remains uncertain, but the dream lives on. Who knows? Perhaps one day, fans will witness the return of this iconic sci-fi horror series.
