"Dawnwalker Director Leaves CDPR to Start Own Studio"
Following the releases of *The Witcher 3* and *Cyberpunk 2077*, not all experts at CD Projekt RED remained with the company. Instead, some chose to embark on a new journey with *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. This ambitious project was recently unveiled by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shared his reasons for leaving CDPR, highlighting his desire to explore new horizons with his friends. "I wanted to do something different with my friends, so I started Rebel Wolves," he explained. With a deep passion for role-playing games and their rich history, Tomaszkiewicz believes that the traditional rules of RPGs can be further developed and expanded. "We came up with some wild ideas," he added. Recognizing the challenge of convincing a large corporation to embrace novel intellectual property and innovative changes, Tomaszkiewicz and his team decided to establish their own studio. "Since we're working on some novel solutions, it's actually risky," he admitted.
Tomaszkiewicz emphasized the advantages of working in a smaller team environment. "Unlike in large studios where it's more complicated, we work with people and between people [relationships] in our studio," he noted. He believes that a smaller team fosters better communication and simplifies the process of discussing and realizing a creative vision. "Feeling the 'creative fire' and creating something unique is simpler," Tomaszkiewicz concluded, underscoring the potential of a tight-knit team to innovate and produce exceptional work.
