Darkside Detective, a point-and-click mystery game, launches with sequel

Akupara Games has recently released a flurry of titles. Following our coverage of the deck-building game Zoeti, we now turn our attention to The Darkside Detective, a quirky puzzle adventure, and its recently released sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (both available now!).

What's Brewing in Twin Lakes?

The game opens on a gloomy, fog-shrouded night in the fictional town of Twin Lakes – a place where the strange, the spooky, and the utterly absurd are commonplace. Meet Detective Francis McQueen and his partner, the endearingly clumsy Officer Patrick Dooley, the unlikely duo comprising the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department.

Prepare to solve nine captivating cases alongside this pair, delving into the hilarious and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty companion, A Fumble in the Dark.

These point-and-click adventures present a diverse range of challenges, from time-travel mysteries and tentacled horrors to uncovering carnival secrets and battling mafia zombies. See the trailer below for a taste of the action!

The game is a delightful homage to pop culture, brimming with references to classic horror films, sci-fi shows, and buddy cop movies. The cases themselves boast intriguing titles: Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard, and Baits Motel.

The game's remarkable ability to inject humor into every pixel is a standout feature. If you're interested, The Darkside Detective is available on the Google Play Store for $6.99. You can also jump straight into A Fumble in the Dark without playing the prequel – find it on Google Play as well.
