Control 2 Among Annapurna Interactive Video Games Seemingly Unaffected by Company’s Mass Resignation
Annapurna Interactive's recent mass staff resignation sparked concerns about the future of its game projects. However, several titles appear unaffected, including the highly anticipated Control 2 and Wanderstop.
Key Projects Remain on Track
Despite the upheaval, developers have confirmed the continued progress of several games. Remedy Entertainment, self-publishing Control 2, stated their agreement is with Annapurna Pictures and development remains unaffected. Davey Wreden and Team Ivy Road similarly assured fans that Wanderstop is progressing smoothly, with Wreden expressing confidence in its imminent release. Matt Newell's Lushfoil Photography Sim, nearing completion, also seems unaffected, though the team acknowledged the loss of their collaboration with Annapurna Interactive. Beethoven & Dinosaur confirmed continued development of their anticipated title, Mixtape.
Uncertainty Remains for Other Titles
Conversely, the status of other projects, including Silent Hill: Downfall, Morsels, The Lost Wild, Bounty Star, and the internally developed Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, remains unclear pending developer statements.
Annapurna Pictures CEO Megan Ellison pledged continued support for its development partners. While the situation is evolving, many developers have expressed optimism regarding their projects' futures.
Annapurna Interactive's Mass Resignation
The mass resignation of Annapurna Interactive's entire 25-person team followed failed negotiations for the studio's independence. This followed the departure of former president Nathan Gary. The team cited disagreements over the studio's future direction. Despite this, Annapurna Pictures remains committed to interactive entertainment.
