Kepler Interactive reports that Oblivion's release did not negatively impact Clair Obscur. In fact, the renewed interest in the RPG genre sparked by Oblivion's launch may have benefited the newer title.

From my experience in the press, Western-style and Japanese-style RPGs traditionally attract different audiences. I know many players who enjoy Elder Scrolls games but not necessarily Final Fantasy, and vice versa.

"Furthermore, by our launch date, we had built significant momentum and felt confident in standing alongside Oblivion. Other factors, like our pricing and inclusion in Game Pass, meant we anticipated strong interest. We were confident, and the outcome exceeded our expectations. Proximity to Oblivion's launch didn't hurt us; if anything, it focused more attention on high-quality RPGs that week, getting everyone discussing the genre."
