The stress test for what could be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has kicked off, and it's generating a lot of buzz among fans. Earlier, some Sony console players got a sneak peek at the patch, but if you're not up for testing, the developers suggest a clean slate by reinstalling the game.

Patch 8 brings some exciting updates to the table. One of the most anticipated features is crossplay, which means you can now team up with friends on different platforms, whether they're on consoles or PC. All you need is a linked Larian account to invite friends from across the gaming divide. Even more intriguing, modded gameplay will now support cross-platform play, but there are a couple of caveats. All mods used by the PC player must be accessible on Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby can't have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.

Speaking of multiplayer, a feature that many have been eagerly waiting for is now in testing: split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S. This feature was previously unavailable on this less powerful console, making its inclusion a welcome surprise for Xbox Series S users.

Patch 8 doesn't stop there. It introduces a rich photo mode with a plethora of customization options, allowing players to capture their adventures in stunning detail. Additionally, 12 new subclasses have been added, offering even more variety to character development. Larian has also tackled numerous bugs and rebalanced various game elements, although some issues persist.
