From January 5 to January 13, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 generated over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, surpassing the 2024 event by more than $100,000. The annual winter Games Done Quick (GDQ) event featured thrilling speedruns of games like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and various titles spanning multiple genres.

Each January, Awesome Games Done Quick stands as one of GDQ’s two flagship events, with Summer Games Done Quick held in July. Beyond these, GDQ organizes smaller events like Frame Fatales and GDQ Express to bridge the gaps between major marathons. In October 2024, GDQ held an impromptu Disaster Relief Done Quick event in response to Hurricane Helene’s destruction across the Southeastern US. Over two days, it raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief, a charity providing emergency supplies, transportation, and medical aid to disaster-stricken areas.

As the new year began, Awesome Games Done Quick amassed significant funds for cancer research. From January 5 to January 13, AGDQ 2025 raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, exceeding the prior year’s total by $100,000. The foundation emphasizes early cancer detection, prevention, and supporting research and outreach initiatives. GDQ and the Prevent Cancer Foundation have a long-standing partnership, with GDQ events collectively raising over $26 million for the cause. AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a speedrun of the Switch version of Pikmin by Ray0ken, completed in under an hour.
