In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, combat plays a pivotal role, and having better weapons can make all the difference. Starting from the prologue, Henry finds himself with nothing, but there's a way to arm yourself early on with the Dogwood Village Bow, completely free of charge.
Early Dogwood Village Bow Location in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
After parting ways with Hans, your next objective is to find a way into the wedding. You have the option to take up a job with a blacksmith or a miller and prove your worth to gain entry. Even if you're not interested in the blacksmith job, the map marker for it can guide you to the location of the Dogwood Village Bow. If you decide to pursue the blacksmith job to attend Semine's wedding, you'll also want to learn about acquiring the hermit's sword, but that's a task for after you've started the job.
The blacksmith job is located in Tachov, north of Troskowitz, where the prologue concludes and the game world opens up. To find the bow, follow the road west out of Troskowitz, and continue as it curves north. At a junction where the main road splits and a smaller road leads west, take a right towards a cluster of trees. This area is unassuming and easy to overlook, with the training spot hidden within.
Inside the cluster, you'll find a target with arrows embedded in it. Collect these for free ammunition, then look to the right side of the tree to find the Dogwood Village Bow leaning against the trunk. There's also some brew on a nearby stump and mushrooms to gather. Once you've collected everything you need, you can proceed with your current quest.

Other Ways to Get the Dogwood Village Bow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
If you prefer to purchase the Dogwood Village Bow, it's available from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov. However, considering its proximity to the free version and its modest power, it's more economical to acquire the free bow, especially if you're in dire need of a ranged weapon. Vitek also sells other, more powerful weapons, and you can earn money through alchemy by collecting herbs and brewing potions to sell.
Whether you opt for the free bow or aim to buy a superior weapon, having a ranged option is crucial, particularly since the game doesn't allow difficulty adjustments. The combat mechanics in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* remain similar to the first game, and melee combat may not appeal to everyone. Personally, I find ranged weapons invaluable in such scenarios.
If you decide to take the blacksmith job in Tachov, you can save your progress after demonstrating your sword-forging skills. Alternatively, proceed to the miller to advance the main quest. With a ranged weapon at your disposal, combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* becomes significantly more manageable.
And that's how you can get the free Dogwood Village Bow early in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
