Step into a historically accurate escape room set in the 15th-century home of a Hanseatic merchant! Dielenhaus Adventure – The Merchant's Quest offers an authentic digital escape room experience. Solve engaging puzzles and learn about the daily life and work of a Hanseatic merchant around 1475. Think of it as a fun, interactive museum visit packed with fascinating historical details you won't find in any textbook!

A Story of Mystery and Commerce

Merchant Jürgen Knoggeburg is preparing for a crucial council meeting. Time is money, and business must proceed! He's tasked you with various errands in his hall house, but you only have 30 minutes before your bowling appointment – hurry! This educational game challenges you to solve puzzles, combine items within the historically recreated setting, and use your wits to keep the merchant happy and on schedule. Explore his hall house, based on historical sources, and gain insights into daily professional and private life in the Hanseatic region. Three key tasks await:

• Assemble the merchant's attire. Be careful; some clothing requires medieval cleaning or drying methods.
• Draft an important letter. You'll need to prepare ink and find suitable writing materials.
• Distribute delivered goods. Use a cargo crane to move items between floors of the house.

An Educational Game and Digital Museum

The mobile educational game, Adventure Dielenhaus, is part of the digital offerings from the European Hansemuseum in Lübeck. Developed in collaboration with local historians, it blends fact-based fiction with playful knowledge transfer about daily life, architecture, work, and connections to the modern day.

Playable solo at home or in a classroom setting under a teacher's guidance, the app provides an exciting glimpse into 15th-century Hanseatic life. The content is particularly suited for teaching media literacy and critically examining historical sources. Its engaging and fun approach also sparks discussions about life in the Middle Ages and aligns with secondary school curricula.

A special treat awaits visitors to the European Hansemuseum Lübeck who have played the Abenteuer Hanse app: your Adventure Dielenhaus successes will be added to the family tree database on the Adventure Dielenhaus website, featuring the fictional von Knoggeburg family. Scores are saved locally on your device, and no internet connection is required to play.
