Square Enix Shuts Down Romancing SaGa Re:universe
Romancing SaGa Re:universe's global server is closing on December 2nd, 2024. While the Japanese version continues, this marks the end of a four-year run for the global community. The decision may not come as a complete surprise, given the game's mixed reception.
Two Months Remain
With the shutdown date approaching, sales of paid jewels and Google Play Points exchanges have already ceased following the September 29th, 2024 maintenance. Launched in June 2020, the global version enjoyed a run filled with both successes and challenges. Despite impressive visuals and a generous gacha system, the global release faced criticism for lacking key content updates available in the Japanese version. The absence of updates like Solistia and 6-star units, available in Japan for almost a year, contributed to player dissatisfaction and ultimately, the server closure.
Community Reflections
Square Enix has seen several mobile titles conclude their service this year, including Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and two Dragon Quest mobile games. This trend continues with the global version of Romancing SaGa Re:universe.
This traditional turn-based RPG, based on the classic SaGa series, offers players two more months of gameplay. Whether you're a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, now is your chance to experience Romancing SaGa Re:universe before its global servers go offline. Download it from the Google Play Store.
