Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week
Sony is reportedly planning its usual February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. NateTheHate, a leaker with a proven track record (including accurately predicting the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date), hinted at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10th-14th).
So, what might Sony unveil? Let's consider their 2025 first-party releases. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, currently slated for 2025, is a prime candidate for a gameplay reveal and release date announcement. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, could also make an appearance if playtesting plans for this year remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, is another possibility. While less likely, we might see new footage of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, also expected in 2025, or even a first look at Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, or Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine.
However, several recently cancelled live-service games won't feature. Last month, Sony cancelled two unannounced live-service titles in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (reportedly a God of War live-service title). Bend Studio's project remains undisclosed. Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon game, however, reportedly survived the cuts—could this finally be its time to shine?
AnswerSee ResultsRegarding third-party announcements, Kojima Productions' Physint (a stealth-action PlayStation exclusive) might be too early for a showing, but Phantom Blade Zero, a hack-and-slash action RPG from S-Game, is more likely.
Finally, given Microsoft's growing presence on PlayStation, we could see a release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, or even a surprise announcement regarding the arrival of Halo on PlayStation.
Looking back at last year's State of Play, which featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic Frontiers, various Silent Hill projects, Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2, offers clues to what we might expect this year.
