Rebel Wolves Targets Witcher 3-Level Quality for Dawnwalker
Former CD Projekt Red veterans behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have resurfaced at Rebel Wolves to announce their dark fantasy RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not chasing AAA production values, the team's aspirations remain sky-high.
A Compact Vision With AAA Ambitions
Studio founder Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz explained their unique approach:
"We're aiming for Witcher 3-caliber quality - that's in our DNA. But as a nimble team working on our debut title, we're crafting something more focused yet equally polished."
The developers estimate a 30-40 hour completion time, with Tomaszkiewicz challenging conventional wisdom:
"Comparing anything to Witcher 3's sprawling 100+ hour campaigns is unfair. Does longevity define quality? Call of Duty delivers AAA experiences in tight packages. Maybe scale isn't the best measure."
A Race Against Time in a Gothic World
The Blood of Dawnwalker casts players as a dhampir protagonist with thirty days and nights to save loved ones. Despite the in-game timer, the developers promise the pacing won't feel rushed. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the gothic action-RPG will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S - though no release window has been confirmed yet.
The studio has openly dismissed gaming's obsession with labels like "AAA" and the newly coined "AAAA" classifications, focusing instead on delivering a rich narrative experience with refined combat mechanics.
