Punisher Returns in Marvel Special After Daredevil
Jon Bernthal's Punisher is making a triumphant return to the Marvel universe! Following the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, he'll star in a standalone Marvel special, reminiscent of a Guardians of the Galaxy style adventure. Bernthal is even co-writing the special with We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Marvel Television head, Brad Winderbaum, describes the project as a "shotgun blast of a story," packed with both action and the emotional depth expected of a Frank Castle tale.

The Punisher's one-shot special arrives as Marvel Television prepares to bring back the Defenders on Disney+. This street-level superhero team—Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones)—last graced our screens on Netflix before their shows transitioned to Disney+ and became official MCU canon. Winderbaum acknowledges the creative challenges of translating the vast world of comics to the screen, but expresses excitement about exploring the possibilities within the MCU's framework.
Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th, continues the Daredevil storyline from Netflix, featuring returning characters like the Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). This time, they face a formidable threat: the artistically inclined serial killer, Muse.
