PS Plus Subscribers Gain Exclusive Access to a Quintuple Extension

Sony addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation of the cause or preventative measures.

To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.

The outage significantly impacted gameplay. Over one-third of players were unable to log in, while others reported server crashes.

Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player PC games, fueled existing player concerns about this policy, highlighted by this outage.

This isn't the first major PSN disruption. A massive data breach in April 2011 resulted in over 20 days of connectivity problems. While less severe, the recent incident has left PS5 users frustrated by Sony's lack of detailed communication.
