Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed
Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first teased in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering a unique approach to interactive storytelling.
A Deep Dive into Personal Memories
Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi is designed to be a deeply personal experience. Players input their real-life memories, described in paragraph form, and the game transforms these narratives into animated scenes. These scenes, or "mems," are then customizable using in-game assets for a more accurate representation.
Each new mem added to the game trains the AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a 3D environment of interconnected hexagons. As the mind world grows, so does its population of Proxies, representing the player's friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, creating a dynamic and interconnected representation of the player's life. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game environments, including Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized the game's focus on creating "magical connections with memories and bringing them to life." This personal approach, he explained, stems from a belief that "no game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." The more the game centers on the player's own experiences, the more engaging and rewarding the experience becomes.
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements expected soon.
