Project Mugen Is Now Called Ananta, Devs Drop New Trailer

Remember Project Mugen, the anticipated urban open-world RPG from Naked Rain and NetEase? It's had a name change! Now known as Ananta, this RPG, initially unveiled at Gamescom 2023, has finally released a new trailer after a long silence. More details are promised on December 5th. Until then, enjoy the trailer:

The Name Change Mystery

The developers haven't explained the shift from Mugen to Ananta. Interestingly, both names translate to "infinite" – Mugen in Japanese and Ananta in Sanskrit. The Chinese title reinforces this theme.

Gamer reaction is mixed, but the relief that the project hasn't been canceled is palpable. Comparisons to Hotta Studio's upcoming RPG, Neverness to Everness, are inevitable. Ananta's trailer is visually stunning, but lacks gameplay footage, giving Neverness to Everness a potential advantage for some players. Personally, I find Ananta's visuals more compelling.

A Curious Turn of Events

Here's the odd part: the development team deleted all their original social media accounts, including a YouTube channel boasting over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views. Only the Discord server remains, simply renamed. This fresh start has left many gamers puzzled.

In Ananta, you embody an Infinite Trigger, a paranormal investigator combating supernatural chaos. The cast includes Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, and Dila.
