The Story Behind The Original Series Tricorder

Bringing this product to life has been a true labor of love for The Wand Company. The team first envisioned the project in 2016, with official development commencing in 2019 after Greg Jein granted them access to 3D scan his screen-used hero prop. This enabled the creation of the most accurate model possible, as this was the final known hero prop; without it, any replica would lack a precise reference.

The Wand Company publicized the development journey in 2020. Starting in 2021, they published a series of blog posts every few weeks, detailing the replica's progress. These updates offered insights into the modeling process, the underlying technology, and revealed the replica's planned features. Despite encountering production delays and development challenges, the team succeeded in creating what many believed was an impossible achievement.
