Open-Source iOS App Store Apptoide Now Free in EU

Aptoide, the independent app store, is now freely available on iOS for EU users. While claiming to be the first free alternative app store on iOS, the Epic Games Store technically launched first. However, Aptoide might be the first general, third-party storefront.

Apple's tight control over its iOS ecosystem has long limited app store alternatives. Following legal challenges and the Epic Games Store's iOS debut, Aptoide enters the market.

We previously covered Aptoide's beta in mid-2024. Now, all EU iOS users can download it. While Aptoide boasts being the first alternative, the Epic Games Store's earlier release should be noted.
