"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

Author : Hazel May 14,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on one of Bethesda's landmark titles, enhancing it with updated visuals and gameplay mechanics. Yet, the team at Virtuos has chosen to preserve one of the original game's most memorable quirks.

Most dedicated Elder Scrolls fans are familiar with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion originally launched for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's voice lines became infamous. One particular recording, believed to be an unintended inclusion, features actress Linda Kenyon attempting a line again.

As players ventured back into a revitalized Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to discover how faithful the remaster truly is. While numerous aspects such as environments, character models, and items have been significantly updated, fans have been delighted to find that many original quirks, including Tandilwe’s amusing blooper, remain unchanged. The iconic moment is preserved just as it was nearly two decades ago, complete with its lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning about the viral nature of the Oblivion blooper, humorously remarked, "It wasn't my fault!"

While the community debates whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake or a remaster, many are simply pleased to see that much of the original game's charm and imperfections have been retained. This was a deliberate choice by Bethesda and Virtuos, and it appears to be well-received by both new and returning players.
