The long-awaited details about Nintendo's rumored upgrade, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been revealed, and the specifications are even more impressive than many expected. The new system supports up to 120fps and can handle 4K resolution when docked, which promises a significant leap in gaming performance.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several exciting features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, yet retains the same thickness of 13.9mm. With approximately double the pixels, it supports a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD type and supports HDR, which enhances visual quality significantly. When docked, the system can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR, ensuring stunning graphics for gamers.The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the comfort and ease of horizontal play. Additionally, the left and right sticks are bigger, promising better control. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support in the Joy-Con controllers, adding a new dimension to gameplay.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with a built-in microphone featuring noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also includes a more robust and adjustable stand than the original Nintendo Switch, allowing for various viewing angles. A top USB port adds versatility, enabling external camera connectivity and system charging in tabletop mode.
