Nintendo Alarm Clock Prepares for Release
Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Mysterious Switch Online Playtest
Get ready for a Nintendo interactive alarm clock! The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, priced at $99, is now available. It uses game sounds to rouse you, making you feel like you're waking up inside your favorite Nintendo game.
Alarmo: Game-Themed Wake-Up Calls
Featuring sounds from Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, and more, with free updates adding even more sounds in the future, Alarmo is more than just an alarm clock. It uses a motion sensor to ensure you’re truly out of bed before silencing its insistent calls. Waving your hand quiets it temporarily, but staying put only increases the alarm's intensity.
The setup is easy: choose a game, select a scene, set your alarm, and let Alarmo's interactive features take over. The clock employs a radio wave sensor, detecting movement even in the dark and through obstacles, while prioritizing user privacy over video recording. As Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama explains, "The key feature is that it can recognise very subtle movements, and unlike cameras, it doesn't need to film videos, so privacy is better protected."
Early access for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members in the US and Canada is available now via the My Nintendo Store. Nintendo New York also offers in-person purchases while supplies last.
