Monster Hunter Wilds: Mastering Monster Captures

Slaying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is rewarding, but sometimes you need their parts, which means capturing them. Here's how to do it:

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

The process is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer to capture it.

Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and the monster limping or drooling.

Once weak, deploy a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and style.

Capturing the monster ends the quest, returning you to Base Camp.

Obtaining Traps and Tranquilizer Items

While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to bring your own. There are two trap types: Pitfall and Shock Traps. Pitfall Traps require a Trap Tool and a Net (Spiderwebs or Ivy). Shock Traps need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For tranquilizers, craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can be combined with Throwing Knives or Normal Ammo to create Tranq Blades and Tranq Ammo.

That's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. Check out The Escapist for more game tips and information.
