Microsoft unveils Edge Game Assist, a preview build of its game-optimized in-browser experience designed for PC gamers. Recognizing that 88% of PC gamers use browsers while playing—for help, progress tracking, music, or chatting—Microsoft aimed to eliminate the tedious Alt-Tabbing. Edge Game Assist offers a seamless solution.

Edge Game Assist is the first in-game browser providing a rich, gaming-centric experience, accessing your browser data across PC and mobile devices. This specialized version overlays your game via the Game Bar, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab. Your favorites, history, cookies, and auto-fills sync seamlessly from your regular Edge browser—no need for repeated logins.

A key feature is the game-aware tab page, automatically suggesting tips and guides relevant to your current game. This addresses the 40% of PC players who actively search for in-game help. You can even pin this tab for real-time access to guides.

Currently in beta, automatic guide suggestions are limited to select titles:

⚫︎ Baldur’s Gate 3 ⚫︎ Diablo IV ⚫︎ Fortnite ⚫︎ Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga ⚫︎ League of Legends ⚫︎ Minecraft ⚫︎ Overwatch 2 ⚫︎ Roblox ⚫︎ Valorant

More games will be added over time.

To access, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, and navigate to Settings within Edge. Search for "Game Assist" to install the widget.
