Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio's future as a franchise, Hashino confirmed there are currently no plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current game, a project he initially conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus.

While a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel is unlikely, the team is already exploring their next endeavor. An anime adaptation, however, is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable success, boasting the highest concurrent player count for an Atlus game launch to date, exceeding 85,961 players. This surpasses the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
