Lara Croft Embarks on Spine-Tingling Adventure in Dead by Daylight
Lara Croft, the iconic Tomb Raider, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has revealed. This highly anticipated addition follows months of speculation and confirms the legendary heroine's entry into the Survivor roster. The announcement comes shortly after the release of Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons, adding another celebrated gaming icon to the game's already impressive lineup of characters.
The Lich (Vecna) from Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons, Chucky from Child's Play, and Alan Wake recently joined the game. Now, Lara Croft, originally created by Toby Gard for the 1996 Core Design title, takes center stage. Dead by Daylight: Lara Croft launches on July 16th across all platforms, with early access granted to PC players via a Steam public test build. While an official release date is set, a gameplay trailer showcasing Lara's unique skills and perks remains unreleased, offering PC players a first look at her in-game capabilities. Behaviour Interactive describes Lara as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of navigating perilous adventures. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot trilogy.
Beyond Lara's arrival, Behaviour Interactive's 8th-anniversary livestream unveiled additional surprises: a thrilling new 2v8 mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors; the addition of Frank Stone, a character from Supermassive Games' The Quarry; and a forthcoming Castlevania chapter later this year.
The excitement surrounding Lara Croft extends beyond Dead by Daylight. Aspyr recently released a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy (Tomb Raider 1-3), and Tomb Raider: Legend received a (somewhat controversially received) PS5 port. Further fueling the Lara Croft resurgence, a new animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, starring Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara, is slated for an October 2024 release.
