Harrison Ford, the iconic Indiana Jones, lauded Troy Baker's performance as the titular character in the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, asserting that AI isn't necessary to capture an actor's essence.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford expressed his satisfaction with Baker's portrayal, stating, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for a pittance with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."

Released in December, The Great Circle offers an authentic, albeit potentially non-canonical, addition to the Indiana Jones franchise. This contrasts with the mixed reception of the 2023 film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The game's positive reception might steer future franchise installments towards video game adaptations, potentially lessening the need for Ford's continued involvement.

Ford joins a chorus of creatives expressing concerns about AI's role in filmmaking and media. Tim Burton deemed AI-generated art "very disturbing," while Nicolas Cage labeled it a "dead end." Voice actors, including Ned Luke (Grand Theft Auto 5) and Doug Cockle (The Witcher), have also voiced opposition, citing concerns about AI's potential to usurp their livelihoods. Cockle acknowledged AI's inevitability but warned of its inherent dangers and the threat it poses to actors' income.
