While Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered prioritizes action gameplay, it also offers extensive weapon and outfit customization. You can tailor outfits for stealth, melee combat, or ranged attacks. But what if you could combine the benefits of multiple outfits? You can, with some limitations. This guide explains how.

Remastered Version of Horizon Zero Dawn Required

The ability to enjoy the effects of two outfits is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch added a transmog feature, letting you retain the stats and effects of one outfit while visually wearing another. No more sacrificing style for power!

Pre-Requisite for the Two Outfit Method

This technique isn't universal. While your primary outfit can be any you choose, the secondary outfit must be one of the following:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)

This method isn't available early in the game, as these outfits are located within the Frozen Wilds DLC. However, you don't need to complete the main game to access the DLC.

How to Get Banuk Werak Outfits in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Banuk Werak Runner

Reach the Frozen Wilds expansion area by defeating the introductory machine. If needed, lower the difficulty or upgrade your gear. Once there, find a Bluegleam Merchant (marked by a blue merchant icon) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit.

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept

For the superior Banuk Werak Chieftain outfit, complete the "For the Werak" quest (the third main quest in the Frozen Wilds DLC). This mission can be challenging; consider lowering the difficulty to Story mode if needed. The Adept version is acquired the same way, but only in New Game Plus.

Once you have your secondary outfit, you're ready to proceed. Further Frozen Wilds content is optional.

What to Do to Get the Effects of Two Outfits

Equip your preferred outfit—the one with the desired stats (remember you can enhance stats with Weaves). Then, use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. These outfits lack additional stats but provide automatic healing after taking damage.

This combines your chosen outfit's stats with the auto-healing perk of the Banuk Werak outfit. If your primary outfit is Shield-Weaver, you become exceptionally durable, with the auto-heal acting as a safety net. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept outfits offer significantly faster healing than the Runner.
