League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests following extensive fan feedback. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and what lies ahead for LoL.

League of Legends Back Tracks on Their Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Are Coming Back

League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests after listening to its community's feedback. On February 27, 2025, Riot Games released a detailed developer update on their website, complemented by a dev update video on their YouTube channel.

LoL acknowledged that recent changes didn't resonate well with the player base, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The fanbase's strong attachment to Hextech Chests was a key point of contention. LoL recognized this, explaining, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests will make a return, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, stating the team needs "more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act as initially planned.

In response to further fan feedback, LoL is making additional changes. They will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging "clear feedback that there’s both a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and that we’ve been doing more champions for each seasonal theme than makes sense."

To enhance player accessibility, LoL is also reducing the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05, in light of recent discussions about blue essence and champion shards.

Another significant reversal involves Clash. After previously announcing a reduced frequency, LoL is now reinstating Clash to a monthly schedule. "March’s Clash event will be ARURF, then we’ll run a regular SR Clash in April," they stated.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

In response to community demand, LoL is bringing back the popular Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop will make its first appearance of the year in patch 25.06, followed by the Emporium in 25.07.

Riot Games emphasized their ongoing commitment to the game's improvement, saying, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these updates, it's evident that Riot Games is dedicated to listening to its fans and adapting LoL to better suit its community's preferences. League of Legends remains available as a free-to-play game on PC. Stay updated with the latest on our League of Legends page.
