GTA 6 Release Date Still Set for Fall 2025, Take-Two CEO Insists — 'We Feel Really Good About It'
Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed its commitment to a Fall 2025 release for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation came during their third-quarter financial report (ending December 31, 2024), effectively dismissing recent delay speculation.
While acknowledging the inherent risk of unforeseen setbacks, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the Fall 2025 launch window. He emphasized Rockstar Games' dedication to achieving perfection, highlighting the immense anticipation surrounding GTA 6 both internally and externally. Zelnick remained tight-lipped regarding specific development details, emphasizing Rockstar's focus and the intense competition within the gaming industry.
The GTA 6 release date continues to dominate headlines, influencing the strategies of rival publishers. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently indicated a willingness to delay the next Battlefield title, hinting at the potential impact of GTA 6's launch on the market.
Despite the confirmed release window, the highly anticipated second trailer for GTA 6 remains unreleased, fueling fan speculation over a year after the first trailer's debut. IGN offers further insights into GTA 6, including perspectives from a former Rockstar developer on potential delay announcements, Zelnick's comments on a PC release, and expert analysis on the PS5 Pro's potential performance with the game.
Take-Two also highlighted the remarkable success of Grand Theft Auto 5, boasting over 210 million units sold worldwide. GTA Online demonstrated strong performance, driven by the "Agents of Sabotage" update, and GTA+ memberships saw a 10% year-over-year increase. Red Dead Redemption 2 surpassed 70 million units sold and is currently experiencing record concurrent player numbers on Steam.

Take-Two anticipates a busy 2025, with several high-profile releases including Civilization 7, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, GTA 6, and Borderlands 4. The company expressed strong optimism regarding the commercial success of its upcoming titles and projected record-breaking net bookings for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
