Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now

Unleash the Ghoul Within

Fallout 76's latest update introduces the thrilling opportunity to roam Appalachia as a Ghoul. On March 18, Bethesda announced that Season 20, dubbed "The Ghoul Within," is now live, enhancing the game with ghoul-centric features, mechanics, and fresh cosmetics for your C.A.M.P.

With this update, players can undergo Ghoulification by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline. This quest leads players to a new section of the Savage Divide, where they'll encounter unique characters aiding in their transformation. As a Ghoul, players unlock exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks.

The Feral ability transforms the hunger and thirst stats into a meter that boosts different stats based on its level. When the meter hits 0%, gameplay intensifies with "+150% Melee Damage, and -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."

On the other hand, the Glow ability lets players absorb radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations while causing them to glow. This ability boosts maximum health, heals damage, and enhances Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks," as Bethesda refers to them.

Players can choose from 28 perks and 2 new legendary perks tailored for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are unavailable to Ghouls, as these stats no longer apply.

A Day In The Life of A Ghoul

Fallout 76 Ghoul Update Details

Embracing life as a Ghoul simplifies navigating the radiation-filled wasteland, thanks to the new Gherks and abilities. However, certain factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may become hostile, potentially blocking access to specific quests.

Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that allow Ghouls to access otherwise restricted content. If the Ghoul lifestyle doesn't suit you, players can revert to human form via the Character Screen, though this is a one-time option. Reverting back to a Ghoul requires purchasing the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.

Whether you're new to the wasteland or a seasoned survivor, the Level 50 Character Boost in the Season 20 update can accelerate your journey. For 1500 Atoms, this boost equips players with the necessary perks to dive straight into Daily Ops, Public Events, and selected story content.

The update also includes essential bug fixes and balance adjustments, such as improvements in accessibility, combat, and weapon damage. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update scheduled for April 29, as part of their season calendar.

Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome its initial challenges, earning a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam with 76% positive reviews. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
