This news is particularly exciting for collectors of the illustrated editions. The last release in this series was *A Storm of Swords* in November 2020, marking a five-year gap before the arrival of this new edition. In addition to stunning illustrations, the new edition of *A Feast for Crows* will include a foreword by Joe Abercrombie. Martin also promised to share some of the interior illustrations later this spring, building anticipation for the book's release. If you're new to the illustrated editions, the first three books in the *A Song of Ice and Fire* series are already available for purchase.

What About The Winds of Winter?

For fans eagerly awaiting *The Winds of Winter*, the wait may continue for some time. George R.R. Martin's most recent comment on the book came in a December 2024 interview, where he expressed doubts about completing it within his lifetime. This follows his November 2023 update, in which he confirmed having written 1,100 pages of the manuscript. While disappointing, there remains hope that the series might be completed by another author. With the fourth illustrated edition now on the horizon, it appears likely that the first five special editions will be released before *The Winds of Winter* sees the light of day.
