FFXIV Mobile Available To Chinese Players

A recent report from Niko Partners, a video game market research firm, reveals a potential mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV, jointly developed by Square Enix and Tencent, among a list of games approved for release in China. While neither company has officially confirmed this, the report indicates the mobile game is slated for launch in China.

The report, detailing 15 games approved by the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA), includes a mobile Final Fantasy XIV title alongside other notable games like a mobile and PC version of Rainbow Six, and mobile titles based on Marvel Snap, Marvel Rivals, and Dynasty Warriors 8.

According to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, the FFXIV mobile game is anticipated to be a standalone MMORPG, distinct from the PC version. However, Ahmad emphasizes that this information stems largely from industry speculation and lacks official confirmation.

This rumored collaboration aligns with Square Enix's stated strategy of aggressively pursuing multiplatform releases for its key franchises, including Final Fantasy. Tencent's extensive experience in the mobile gaming market makes them a logical partner for this expansion.

The news remains unconfirmed, but the inclusion of a Final Fantasy XIV mobile game in the NPPA's approved titles list adds significant weight to the ongoing speculation. Further announcements from Square Enix or Tencent are eagerly awaited.
