Feral Interactive Drops the Imperium Update for ROME: Total War
The renowned strategy game, *ROME: Total War*, has just received a significant free update for its Android version, courtesy of Feral Interactive. Dubbed the Imperium Update, this release brings a host of gameplay enhancements, improved controls, and quality-of-life features that are sure to delight fans. If you've been playing this classic title since its Android debut in 2018, you're in for a treat with these new additions. Fans of the standalone expansions, *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander*, can look forward to these updates rolling out next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update integrates some of the finest features from Feral's newer mobile titles, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. Players can now enjoy three innovative control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes enhance unit management and battle precision, allowing for smoother gameplay. Now, you can simply tap and hold to move your armies, agents, or fleets, rather than manually dragging paths.
Positioning Mode enables precise unit placement by tapping and holding, while the Group Grid feature simplifies unit group management with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is particularly useful, allowing ranged units to switch to close combat when the situation demands it.
A standout feature is the Command Slowdown, which automatically reduces game speed when issuing complex orders, ensuring you have the time to strategize effectively. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android and iPad users, enhancing the control options available to players.
The minimap in *ROME: Total War* has been revamped to mirror the intuitive design seen in *MEDIEVAL II*. It now offers smoother zooming and navigation, along with a new reset button that quickly reverts the view to default settings.
The Imperium Update is available now, and if you own *ROME: Total War* on Android, you can download it directly from the Google Play Store. Keep an eye out for the updates to *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* coming next week, and don't miss out on the enhanced gaming experience they promise.
