Escape from Tarkov update 0.16.0.0 changes revealed

Escape from Tarkov's 0.16.0.0 update is here, bringing a massive overhaul! While technical work continues, Battlestate Games has unveiled a comprehensive changelog and a new trailer showcasing the changes.

Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update

The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring unique tasks and rewards, including a special Khorovod mode. The objective? Light and protect a Christmas tree across six different locations.

A major addition is the Prestige system, similar to Call of Duty's prestige mechanics. Level 55 players who complete specific quests and gather sufficient resources can reset their character, retaining some equipment and earning unique rewards unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. Currently, only two prestige levels are available, with eight more promised.

Other significant changes include:

• Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
• Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when your character catches a cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter offer relief.
• Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
• Customs Map Rework: Texture updates, new objects, and points of interest added to the Customs map.
• New Weaponry: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
• Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items for access.
• New Questline: A new quest chain for the BTR Driver.
• Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.
• Continuous Healing: Implementation of continuous healing mechanics.
• Recoil Balancing: Recoil adjustments and visual improvements.
• Balance Changes and Bug Fixes: Numerous balance tweaks and bug fixes.

This update also includes the standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, meaning players will have a fresh start and plenty to explore once the servers are live.
