Elden Ring Player Will Fight Messmer Daily Until Nightreign Releases
Elden Ring Player Takes on Daily Messmer Challenge Awaiting Nightreign Release
One dedicated Elden Ring player is turning the wait for the upcoming co-op spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, into a unique personal challenge. This player, YouTuber chickensandwich420, has committed to defeating the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, every single day until Nightreign's release. The twist? Each battle uses a different weapon, aiming for a flawless, no-hit victory, all while playing on NG+7.
A Daily Grind: New Weapons, No Hits, Same Boss
Chickensandwich420 began this impressive feat on December 16th, 2024. Initially planning to tackle various bosses from FromSoftware games, the player's university schedule led to focusing on this more manageable—though still incredibly challenging—daily task.
Messmer the Impaler, the second antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is known for his brutal difficulty. Many players report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with top-tier equipment. Chickensandwich420's self-imposed challenge is therefore a significant undertaking.
However, there's a deadline. The player has set a June 2025 cutoff. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, the Messmer marathon will conclude, and the focus will shift to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer—a testament to dedication! As of this writing, the player is on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a planned 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's track record, however, the actual release date remains uncertain. Only time will tell if chickensandwich420's perseverance will be rewarded with Nightreign's launch, or if a delay will bring an end to this epic daily duel.
