Dragon Quest X is coming to mobile, but so far only in Japan
Long-time fans of the *Dragon Quest* series know its vast library of games and spin-offs. One often-overlooked entry, the MMORPG-style *Dragon Quest X*, is finally getting a mobile release—in Japan, at least. Starting tomorrow, Japanese players can download the offline version of *Dragon Quest X* on iOS and Android devices for a discounted price.
As reported by Gematsu, this mobile release offers a single-player experience, a departure from the original online-only format. Interestingly, a mobile version of *Dragon Quest X* was initially planned by Ubitu back in 2013, though that never materialized.
Unlike other *Dragon Quest* titles, *Dragon Quest X* features real-time combat and other MMORPG elements. The offline version, released in 2022 for consoles and PC, finally brings this unique gameplay to a wider audience (in Japan).
Unfortunately, a global release for the mobile version remains unconfirmed. The original *Dragon Quest X* was exclusive to Japan, and while an international launch for the offline mobile version isn't impossible, there's currently no official announcement.
This is disappointing news for many international *Dragon Quest* fans, myself included. The chance to experience even a modified version of *Dragon Quest X* on mobile would be a welcome addition to the series’ mobile presence.
