Bloodmoon Island, located in the northern part of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Encircled by deadly Deathfog and separated from the mainland by a destroyed bridge, reaching this enigmatic locale seems daunting at first glance. However, exploring Bloodmoon Island is crucial for deepening the main plot and unlocking additional side quests in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Navigating to Bloodmoon Island can be challenging, as the game provides limited guidance on how to bypass the Deathfog. Here's a comprehensive guide on reaching Bloodmoon Island and progressing through the story.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Originally, Bloodmoon Island was accessible from Reaper's Coast via a bridge, now broken and located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the positions of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Activating Spirit Vision will illuminate the broken sections of the bridge, revealing a path fraught with traps. Crossing this spirit bridge is manageable with the right tools and skills:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable in the game's first act, these gloves allow teleportation without needing the skill. Use them to move each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.

  2. Translocation Skills: Skills such as Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, making them invaluable for navigating the broken bridge. Note that not all party members may possess these skills.

  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game features four of these special artifacts, which allow warping between them. To cross the bridge, place one pyramid in a companion's inventory, have them use translocation skills to reach the other side, then let the rest of the party warp to the pyramid.

  4. Fast Travel: Once a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel to it, bypassing the need to cross the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

Parties including Fane, the undead companion, have an additional method to reach Bloodmoon Island. Fane's immunity to Deathfog allows him to safely traverse the shrouded waters. Northwest of Cloisterwood lies a pier with an undead ferryman who offers to ferry your party across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer, leading to the death of all but Fane. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he will reach the island unharmed and can unlock the Bloodmoon Island waypoint for the rest of the party to fast travel to.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If your party doesn't include Fane and you still wish to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain your party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion boarding the ferry.
  2. Once aboard, the companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. With the rest of the party chained, use the second Teleporter Pyramid to warp to the dead companion.
  4. Use a resurrection spell or scroll to revive the companion.

For parties without Fane, using the bridge is the safest and quickest route to Bloodmoon Island.

Be cautious not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell, resulting in instant death. If you choose to engage him, quick save first. Defeating him grants you a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
