How To Defeat Zhang Jiao In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Conquering Zhang Jiao, the leader of the Yellow Turbans, is one of the first major hurdles in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. This guide will walk you through his two-phase battle.
How to Defeat Zhang Jiao: Phase 1
This initial encounter is a one-on-one duel in a vast wasteland. Zhang Jiao utilizes sorcery, launching stones across the arena. His attacks vary based on your distance: up close, he hurls four stones; from afar, he unleashes eight in pairs. Maintain a safe distance when he summons many stones to avoid heavy damage. While primarily a ranged fighter, he also employs close-range combos (easily parried) and an area-of-effect (AOE) attack that pushes you back. A glowing white aura signals his AOE attack; evade immediately. He also has red-aura attacks, unblockable moves involving massive rockfalls and clone summons. The best strategy here is to maintain distance until these attacks conclude. Remember to equip a sword for optimal damage output.
Resource management is crucial. Depending on your skill upgrades, you might only have four heals. Utilize the meat buns located near the arena entrance to replenish your health between attacks.
How to Defeat Zhang Jiao: Phase 2
Once you activate Musou Rage, phase two begins. The Yellow Turbans join the fray, but thankfully, so does your army. Use this opportunity to heal using the meat buns. Zhang Jiao introduces tornado attacks; stay aware of these swirling winds to avoid being knocked off balance.
Zhang Jiao will attempt a Grand Tactic, requiring you to defeat 300 soldiers within a short timeframe. Failure results in a devastating attack. He’ll also summon lightning strikes; watch for the closing ring on the ground and evade when it flashes. Musou Mode is incredibly effective for quickly eliminating large groups of soldiers. However, due to the time constraint, utilizing the basic Musou mode might be more efficient.
Successfully thwarting Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic twice will bring him back to the battlefield, using the same tactics from phase one. With your army's support, defeating him should be significantly easier, concluding Chapter 1.
Master these strategies, and victory over Zhang Jiao in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* will be yours. *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
