Chibi-Robo! is making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2's Nintendo Switch Online service, becoming the next classic GameCube title to join the collection as early as next week.

While Nintendo's eShop listing had already hinted at the platformer's eventual arrival, the company has now confirmed its August 21, 2025 release date. This marks the second GameCube title added since the Switch 2's June launch, following Super Mario Strikers (known as Mario Smash Football in Europe).

Nintendo Switch Online provides subscribers with classic games from multiple Nintendo consoles alongside online multiplayer features. The service grants access to iconic titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and now the expanding GameCube catalog, with a seven-day free trial available for newcomers.

The current GameCube lineup features beloved titles such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur 2, and Super Mario Strikers. Expected future additions include fan favorites like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. Retro enthusiasts can also purchase an official GameCube controller replica to complete the nostalgic experience.

When Chibi-Robo! originally launched in 2006, we awarded it IGN's Editor's Choice and an 8.2/10 score - a review that encouraged gamers to give this quirky title a shot.

"Many might dismiss this game at first glance - either for being too unusual or too adorable," we noted in our IGN review. "While it's absolutely both, players will find it's also an incredibly satisfying puzzle-platformer."

Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues its successful rollout with 3.5 million units sold, though analysis suggests third-party titles face challenges in matching Nintendo's own game sales.
