How to Get I Caught a Shooting Star Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
While many *Monster Hunter Wilds* achievements focus on hunting behemoths, one surprisingly elusive trophy demands you find the smallest creature: the Sandstar. This guide reveals how to snag the "I Caught a Shooting Star" trophy/achievement.
This hidden trophy is deceptively simple yet notoriously difficult to find. Its elusive nature often leads players to miss it entirely. The key? Capturing the Sandstar, a tiny desert mouse-like endemic life found only in the **Windward Plains** at night. Its shimmering fur makes it stand out, but its nocturnal habits and small size make it a challenge to spot.
Since the Windward Plains are usually explored during the day, you'll need to manipulate the time of day. Two methods exist:
**Fast Travel:** The earliest method, available once you unlock multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Repeatedly fast traveling between points advances the in-game time until nightfall.
**Resting:** Unlocked after completing Chapter 3 and accessing high-rank content. Use Guild Points to rest at a camp, selecting "Nighttime" for the time of day.
The Sandstar is small and incredibly fast, even for your Seikret. Consider gathering **Screamer Pods** beforehand. These can be harvested from **Baunos**, small winged monsters found in groups around Areas 11 and 13 of the Windward Plains. While not mandatory, Screamer Pods significantly simplify the capture process.
Once night falls, search the midpoint between Areas 11 and 13. Upon spotting the Sandstar, chase it at full speed. When close enough, use a Screamer Pod to stun it, then quickly deploy your **Capture Net** (the same net used for fishing) to secure the catch. The "I Caught a Shooting Star!" trophy/achievement will unlock instantly, along with the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
