Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3 is currently hosting its classic "Fall of Tristram" event, a fan-favorite tradition that was scheduled to conclude on February 1. While many players have expressed hopes for an extension, community manager pezradar confirmed that this isn't feasible at the moment.

Regarding the event's duration, pezradar explained:
“I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes.”

He also addressed the recent delay of Season 34, titled Call of Light, which disrupted some players' weekend plans. The postponement was necessary due to technical challenges:
“I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [the 33rd] season early in early January.

The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts.

We can improve communication with players at earlier stages, and the team is aware of this for the future.”

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has officially unveiled Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that integrates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha test will begin on January 25 for players in Europe, followed by North American participants joining on February 1.

Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game’s unique blend:
"We've blended the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games. Diablo and Escape from Tarkov seem to have a parenthood. We are eager to hear from the players."

In Project Pantheon, players assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a fractured world.
