Avatar: Seven Havens Officially Announced, Set After the Events of The Legend of Korra
Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a brand-new animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting news, timed to coincide with the franchise's 20th anniversary, comes straight from creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko themselves.
Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series following a young Earthbender—the next Avatar after Korra. Set in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event, this new Avatar faces a unique challenge: instead of being seen as a savior, she's hunted as a destroyer by both humans and spirits. Along with her long-lost twin, she must unravel their mysterious past to save the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.
In a statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their excitement, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
The series will be structured in two 13-episode seasons, titled Book 1 and Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating Seven Havens with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details are yet to be revealed.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also hard at work on a feature-length animated film centered on Aang. This movie, slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, will follow an adult Aang on a new adventure.
The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens and the Aang movie. Avatar Studios is also launching a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game to mark this significant milestone.
