Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Guide to Adding Animals to Your Hideout
In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, after unlocking the Hideout, players can enhance their space by adding various animals for companionship. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to bring these furry and feathered friends into your sanctuary.
How to Unlock Animals in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To unlock animals for your Hideout, engage with different breeds of cats and dogs throughout the game. Each time Naoe or Yasuke interacts with a new breed, that animal becomes available to add to your space. You can encounter a variety of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens, including the special stray from the pre-order DLC quest "Thrown to the Dogs."
Yasuke has a unique way to unlock smaller animals by painting them. This includes rabbits, fox kits, tanukis, and monkeys. By documenting these creatures in the wild, you can later choose to bring them into your Hideout.
For those interested in farm life, vendors across Japan offer farm animals like oxen and goats for purchase, using the in-game currency, mon.

How to Add Animals to the Hideout in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Choose the animal you wish to add, and you'll be taken to an overhead view of the Hideout. Select an open grid on the map to place your new companion. Keep in mind that animals will roam freely once you exit build mode, so they might not always be in the same spot when you want to interact with them.
You can add multiple instances of the same animal, except for the "Thrown to the Dogs" pup, which is unique. However, there's a limit to the total number of animals you can have at once. You can always remove or replace animals by erasing them in build mode and adding new ones.
That’s how you can add animals to the Hideout in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* and create a lively, personalized space.
*Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.*
